Pricing for My Freelance Copywriting Services
On the high-end, top industry professionals can command huge fees, and on the low end, you can find beginners who charge $500 or less to write a website page, and as little as $50 for online articles. (You can imagine the quality of work you will receive with that fee.)
So which option should you choose? It really depends on you, your business, your goals, and your budget.
If your budget is tight, and you view copy as something that merely takes up space between ads on a page or screen, then you should hire the cheapest copywriter you can find.
On the other hand, perhaps you want your copy to generate specific marketing and media results. Perhaps you want your messaging to enhance your company and its leadership, or drive more web traffic, or generate more leads and sales.
When you depend on words to enhance your company’s reputation and make money for your organization, then you might consider hiring a copywriter with in-depth industry experience, extensive marketing, media and copywriting knowledge, and a long track record of success.
Why? Because writing that moves customers to action and generates sales and revenue is an investment, not an expense.
For instance, if you sell expensive products and services, your investment in strong copy can pay for itself many times over—even if that copy produces only a few additional sales.
Say you have a webpage or landing page that is generating $100,000 a year in revenues with a 2% conversion rate.
If strong copy increases that conversion rate from just 2% to 3%, that copy will generate increased sales of $50,000 within 12 months—and half a million dollars more over the next decade!
So, what are you looking for in a copywriter? Someone to draft a few words on a page or screen, or someone that can craft messaging that accelerates response rates and moves customers to take immediate action?
